BUDDHA MANDALA NOTECARDS The word mandala is derived from the root manda, which means essence, and the suffix la, meaning container. As images, mandalas symbolise both the mind and the body of the Buddha. In Tibetan Buddhism mandalas are used for meditation, with specific designs often reminding the meditator of some guiding principle. These mandala cards of Buddhist deities are by Canadian artist Julie Batolotta. Click on the card image to see enlarged. |
