CELTIC RAGAS
Ref: AB106CD
Chinmaya Dunster & Vidroha Jamie
"It was at an all-night concert in Delhi in 1979 that I first heard - and fell instantly in love with - the sarod. At the same time the parallels between the Celtic folk music I grew up with and the classical music of India suddenly hit me like a revelation. In that moment in a park in Delhi the connection was made and Celtic Ragas conceived." Chinmaya Dunster then spent ten years devoting himself to mastering the sarod. In 1989 he met American folk-rock guitarist Vidroha Jamie in Pune and the fusion Chinamaya had conceived ten years earlier was born. This album is the resulting blend of Jamies chords on guitar and Chinmayas sarod melodies, which have developed over the years as they have played together in concerts and for special meditations and healing groups all over the world. "It feels like a musical love affair for us to play this music together, an intimate conversation between two old friends. The ancient Hindus and Celts may have felt the same way if ever they connected on their wanderings out of central Asia - one headed east, the other to the farthest west." - Chinmaya Dunster

CELTICA
Ref: H119CD
Eko
Eko makes joyful instrumental music that celebrates life. After three recordings that embraced styles from around the world, the band's fourth release, "Celtica," is its most adventurous and closest to home - at least to EKO creator/guitarist John O'Connor's home. On his fourth album O'Connor focuses on his Irish heritage to produce an album of lilting tunes with distinctive, colourful melodies and dazzling rhythms. The tracks are brought to bubbly life by guitars, accordion, fiddles and percussion with a couple of special guests, recorded in England and Santa Barbara.
