Bali has a highly evolved dance tradition, in many ways similar to the Kathakali of India. Almost all Balinese dance relates tales from the classics of Hindu mythology. Traditional Balinese painters have long passed down particular dance images from father to son, and nowadays sometimes from father to daughter. Time and again these intricate, highly detailed images are painted often with only slight changes - different hand or feet positions for instance. Chinese black ink and acrylic.
