Babaji Bob Kindler & Jai Ma Music
This almost-ambient and nearly-echoing production of the original compositions by Babaji is awash with flowing Eastern rhythms and Western dramatic flair. How this four piece band produced such a lush, full symphonic sound out of one autoharp, a cello, a flute, a tabla and a table tarong is the sound engineers secret. The unusual mix of instruments creates a surprisingly satisfying sound. Resonating cello, or sometimes flute, deeply penetrates the belly while the listener floats on a stream of mellow autoharp punctuated by soulful comments of the tabla.

Kitaro

Originating in the 1,200 year old Kojiki, the Onbashira Matsuri, which inspires this music, is a festival of spiritual cleansing which takes place every seven years in the Shinano-no-kuni region (modern day Nagano) of Japan. Ashik
The uplifting songs on this CD combine the old dancing world of Ireland, Hungary, Russia and rural America with a compelling original beat. Ashik's music reflects the many musical worlds he has traveled in. He was born in England in 1948, and studied violin from the age of ten. At 14 he was given a guitar and learned to play classical guitar and a variety of folk and blues styles. After graduating in philosophy from the University of Oxford in 1968 he founded the acoustic trio "Mythica" that made a mark in English clubs and on the BBC with a blend of folk, blues and poetry. Since then he has combined his love of music and wandering to acquire a unique range of expression. In Southern California in the 70's he played surf music with the Chantays, rock with the notorious Flying Crowbar, and reggae with the Roots Band, while moonlighting in Hollywood as a studio violinist for country sessions. In 1977 he wandered through Mexico and Central America on foot, supporting himself by playing tin whistle on the streets. He went to India in 1979, backpacking his violin through the Himalayas, and settled at the Rajneesh ashram where he played with musicians from all over the world and learned to play the electric bass. In London in the early 80's he went deep into the Irish music of his roots, and joined the Medina Ceilidh band on fiddle. He moved to Japan in 1989 where he played Irish dances on the streets of Yokohama and toured and recorded in Japan and Europe with the legendary Okinawan folk singer Shokichi Kina. Feeling the urge to express this lifetime of experience in music of his own, he spent a year building a digital recording studio high in the Colorado rockies outside Boulder. Gypsy Soul is the first product of this studio.
Hamsafar is the meeting of multi-instrumentalist Prem Joshua, with 14 other musicians from India, Japan and Europe, combining his masterful soprano saxophone playing and soaring flute lines with spacious keyboards, ethnic sounds and the haunting rhythms of the deserts, bazaars and gardens of the East.

Vidroha Jamie
Indo Reel is a stunning follow up to Jamie's third album, Celtic Ragas, which garnered this praise from Paul McCartney, "I love the blend of Indian and Celtic styles in this music. It is one of my favorite CDs." Guitars, tablas, violin, piano, bamboo flutes, trumpet, sitar, bass, and drums give voice to Jamies richly layered compositions. Innocent, joyful, sometimes haunting, Indo Reel alternates intimate dialogues between bamboo flutes and sitar, ("From an Unknown Heart") and a guitar / trumpet duet ("The River") with a full band of guitar, bass, drums, sitar, flutes, and tables, as in "Night Falls." Jamies family roots are in Ireland, and in the 90s he was steeped in the meditation and celebration of India, where he lived for twelve years imbibing the meditative approach to music there. In that environment his musical expression shifted from rock and blues to the mystical relationship between music, silence, and meditation. Indo Reel features a group of world class musicians including Kit Walker (jazz piano, nominated for a Grammy for his work with Jai Uttal on the album "Mondo Rama"), Prem Joshua (sitar, bamboo flutes, thirteen world music CDs), Toni Marcus (violin, received "Most Valuable Player of the Year Award" for her work with Van Morrison in the late 70's including the CD "Into the Music"), and Manish Vyas (tablas).
Greg Ellis
Greg Ellis' work emerges from a spiritual place deep within and defies global boundaries. On Kalarupa, literally translated as 'time form', Ellis re-creates the sacred music used by primitive tribes to meditate and transcend. Kalarupa is a journey through various forms of rhythm and time, from ambient space to ecstatic drumming, opening windows of transcendence. "A visionary work...beautifully played...it dances, it entrances, it bristles with a magical glow." - Mickey Hart.

James Asher
Following the success of his Aboriginal-African dance album, 'Feet in the Soil', James Asher was inspired by the sparkle and vibrancy of Rajasthan to create an album celebrating its power and mysterious appeal. In the year spent building this idea, James was able to track down twenty of the finest musicians Indian and Western, who would help craft the uniquely magical impression made by India. The resulting album was 'Tigers of the Raj', but James was keen to see how others could expand this vision through re-interpretation. He invited pioneers in the field of dance music to contribute their own remixes. The seventy minutes of this CD are a testament to the width and breadth of a growing and innovative musical area, fuelled by a rich cultural heritage, and bubbling with creative innovation. A romantic view of Rajasthan's splendour takes on new dimensions when explored with the imagination and expertise of these masters in world fusion. Infectious intricate grooves carry you through the mystique and magnetism of India in her finest guise.

Al Gromer Khan & Emin Corrado

Michael Deep
The debut album from Michael Deep, who has been described as a mellower version of Andreas Vollenweider, is a sensual journey through Jazz and Rock influenced rhythms. Also a consummate guitarist, Michael created the album after he developed his own electro-acoustic harp. "Thru the Harp" is deeply emotional and fully alive.
Tya
The inspiration for this music came from a stay in Australia and a deep experience of the aboriginal culture. Rhythmic percussion, chant-like vocals, keyboards and computer programming blend together in a marvellous musical otherworldly orchestra. "Tya is the Aboriginal word for the earth, and this music, created by Martin Scherl with some help from the Bulgarian voices and Brian de Rose of Cybertribe, evokes ancestral memories of being part of everything. "From the vast magnetic fields of the planet down to the vibration of a single atom, the wave-like motion of the universe is felt in every corner, every cell of our individual and collective being." Mirroring this "Aboriginal view of the earth as a living body" is achieved through a steady heartbeat-like rhythm that weaves through much of the album, overlaid by complex but harmonious vocal patterns . The resulting whole is an opulent, sensually arousing tapestry." - NAPRA Review.

Ganga Giri
Ganga Giri takes the hypnotic qualities of the didgeridoo and incorporates it with dance grooves that are both organic and synthetic. He has recorded with the likes of Peter Gabriel and performed at many renowned festivals through out the world. Ganga's percussive talent became apparent at the age of 8, when he started playing an array of rhythm-producing instruments. But it was a dream that inspired him to embark on a self-taught journey to didgeridoo mastery. Ganga has subsequently gained the respect of Aboriginal elders for his unique style of didj playing, and has paid his respects to the land where, thousands of years ago, the first person breathed circularly into a termite-hollowed eucalyptus branch. The raw indigenous sounds of the Australian outback meet the synthetic wizardry of the studio on this neo-Aboriginal collage. Swirling percussion such as talking drums, bongos and various shakers complement the earthly drone of the didj amidst a whirl of nature and vocal samples.
